If you like quality cigars, you surely have heard of Cohiba, but Paradon cigars are quietly rising to the top. To the novice, Paradon cigars must surely be an unknown brand. This is a cigar that doesn't produce hundreds of thousands of cigars per month controlled by multi billion dollar corporations.

Paradon cigars have gained one of the most prestigious places in the preference of smokers. Of course, not everybody knows them, they are produced in Nicaragua in the Tabacos Cubanica factory owned by the Padron family. Their production does not exceed 12,000 cigars a day, a small quantity if you compare it to Montecristo, Romeo and Juliet or other well known brands. The secret behind Padron cigars is their careful elaboration. They could have grown and expanded during the 90' boom. Fortunately, they resisted the temptation and continued to produce the product at their own pace. If growth threatened to affect their quality, they opted quality. A tough decision these days.

The Padron cigars are therefore a synonym of quality. Many business start out this way, but when demand increases they change their production methods, become commercial and enjoy the ride their reputation has given them. Of course, after some years, demand all of a sudden stops and the company becomes one of many or goes under.

The rollers of the Padron cigars are personally trained by the owner, and if you know a little about cigars you will know that a great part in the taste of a cigar, besides the blend of course, is the way a cigar is rolled. This fact is well known in the industry and expert rollers are well paid. Some factories only promote their rollers to their premium brands after they have proven themselves to be masters in the art of rolling.

Padron cigars works backwards. While the rest of the industry is trying to figure out a way to make their customers loyal to their brand, the Padron cigars are working hard to be loyal to their customers. This philosophy of course has made Padron cigars customers the most loyal of all. This is the main reason they did not want to expand, because their product would suffer and their customers would be disappointed.

Even the tobacco with which the Padron cigars are made are not purchased elsewhere. They are supervised and cared directly by the Padron family, so that the tobacco plants receive the adequate nutrients, enough water and the rest of the caring that a large plantation involves.
