Cigar lighter
The cigar lighter is probably the simplest gift idea for the cigar smoker, yet cigar smokers are always on the lookout for good lighters and will really appreciate one. If you are one of them you know what I'm talking about. There are so many cigar lighters, you need to know a little about the options you've got available to make an educated decision.
A cigar lighter can be as cheap as 8 dollars or as expensive as you'd like.
The cigar lighter that uses gasoline based liquids is a classic and in the liking of many cigar smokers, if you smoke small cigars, or your preference is machine made cigars this lighter will do fine. There are many commemorative designs, of almost anything imaginable, brands of famous cigar companies can be collected, they are durable and practical.
The butane cigar lighter is the choice for the cigar smoker who likes more expensive cigars, ones that are hand made and feels the gasoline lighters will affect the taste of the cigar. Would you cook with gasoline? I was once asked when I tried to light a friend's habano with an inappropriate lighter. There are there kinds of butane cigar lighters; torch, jet and dual flame.
The ones that produce a wide flame of bright green color are called Jet lighters, they are able to light a cigar quickly. They withstand any weather, wind included, the flame will not be moved.
The torch lighters even works upside down and are also marvelous for smoking a pipe. The flame is concentrated as a strong long stream of fire that has a blue color. Some can produce a flame hot enough for soldering (2,500 degrees), they are great for cigars. It allows plenty of time to light the cigar. The torch cigar can be fun to use, it roars!
The dual flame permits an incredibly easy and even burning, so pick one up for lighting large thick cigars. They work in cold weather as well.
Butane lighters have the advantage they can be refilled, come in many styles and presentations. Some are chromed, others are combinations of cigar cutters, bottle openers and the like.
The cigar lighter preferred by cigar smokers can burn without pressing, so many lighters are squeezed or even have infra red lights to detect when they should be burning.
As always, be careful of imitations, that pretend to be a jet or torch cigar lighter and are only cheap imitations that don't work properly. If you are purchasing through the internet, be specially careful you are specified the brand you are purchasing.
