Acid Cigar

Acid cigar is controversial in its flavor. To many, the taste is not for cigars; for the producers, it's this special taste that makes them unique. The Nicaraguan factory is pretty new, opened up in 1997. The small company took a big risk introducing such a bold flavor at the 1999 RTDA trade show. The critics could have killed it in its infancy with a bad review. No cigar would survive a bad critic being so new, most consumers would have simply avoided it.

Yet, the success of the Acid cigar is undeniable. Demand has grown and this almost unknown brand is today a household name. It has become so popular that some blends are among the most ordered by the American public.

Cigar smokers are always willing to try something new, this openness allowed the company to offer consumers radical tastes with tobaccos never before tried. While a traditional cigar may have a blend of three different regions, Acid is gourmet blending over 12 different region in a single cigar. The young factory is already producing an astonishing number of 47 blends. The tobacco used in it comes from all around the world, not just the typical regions. Leafs from Turkey and many other places are used to produce a challenging blend.

The Acid cigar aims for a medium-body cigar, a different taste is well accepted. The taste is due not only to the superb art in blending, but to the overall process as well. The tobacco is laid on pine, giving an unknown flavor. Also, Acid cigar is aged for at least 120 days, and then oils, herbs and botanicals are blended afterwards. It's amazing that with so many different ingredients they are managing to maintain a consistent flavor in the blend. Many good tasting cigars have come and gone, not because they were not good, but because they were unable to manage a continuity in the taste of their product; sometimes it was strong, others mild, confusing and disappointing the consumers. This is one of the biggest challenges cigar producers face, as even weather variations during harvest or an inaccurate blend will change the taste of the smoke dramatically. This is why many connoisseurs store their cigars six months or more, the blend is then properly mixed and the result is an even taste in the cigar.

The Acid cigar line has different blends, the red, blue, gold and purple are the original creations, others like Acid subculture or Acid One blend have been recently added.

The size in these cigars is very important, and an Acid cigar of the same blends can produce a very different taste.
