History of Cigars
Nobody knows for sure when the tobacco plant was first cultivated, but there is little doubt about where.
The native people of the American continent were undoubtedly the first not only to grow, but to smoke the plant,
which probably first came from the Yucatan peninsula, Mexico. It was certainly used by the Maya of Central America,
and when the Maya civilization was broken up, the scattered tribes carried tobacco both southward into South America,
and to North America, where it was probably first used in the rites of the Mississipi Indians. It didn't come to the
attention of the rest of the world until Cristopher Columbus's momentous voyage of 1492.

Choosing A Cigar
When a manufacturer ships cigars they traditionally 'over moisten' the cigars to surviv transit. It is usually customary to leave the cigars in a humidor for two weeks to give the cigars a chance to stabilize. However, when you walk into a cigar shop it's difficult to determine, just by look, whether the cigars have had a chance to properly stabilize.

A True Story about Free Cigars...
This is a true story and was the 1st place winner in the recent Criminal Lawyers Darwin Award Contest. A Charlotte NC man, having purchased a box of very rare and expensive cigars, then insured them against fire among other things. Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpile of these fine cigars and without yet having made his first premium payment on the insurance policy, the man filed a claim against the insurance company. In his claim the man stated that the cigars were lost "in a series of small fires".
